Oil Heat Service

At Laird and Son we deliver fuel on a computerized weather controlled basis from Mississauga to Oshawa.We have a variety of ways available for you to pay your fuel bills including equalized monthly payments.

We provide 24hr NO HEAT emergency service as well as a maintenance package that includes parts and labour.We have 3 fully licensed oil burner mechanics who are employees of the company unlike some of the other oil companies who use Sub-contractors.

Over the last number of years Laird and Son has installed hundreds of new Oil Tanks. It is recommended that Fuel Oil Tanks be replaced after twenty years.

Boilers for Radiator

Laird and Son install mid-efficiency and high efficiency boilers. A mid-efficiency boiler has an efficiency rating of 80-85% A.F.U.E. (annual fuel utilization efficiency) A high efficiency boiler has an efficiency rating of 90-95 % A.F.U.E..

The mid-efficiency boilers installed by Laird and Son have cast iron heat exchangers. A cast iron boiler, properly installed, has a proven record of faithful operation and longevity. The units come as chimney vented or direct vent. Direct vent systems are used where chimneys are not available and vent directly through the wall using stainless steel venting. It is imperative that boilers be cleaned annually to prevent premature parts failure and diminished efficiency.

The high efficiency boiler is a condensing system using a cast aluminum or stainless steel heat exchanger. The condensation of exhaust gases releases the latent heat of vaporization of the water. By recovering the heat produced as water vapour , a condensing boiler will regain 970btuh/pound of condensate (the water vapour released whenever one burns fossil fuels). These units vent through CPVC plastic pipes and also require a drain for condensate. Modulating options are available making these units ideal for multipurpose applications. High efficiency boilers also qualify for certain government rebates.

Forced air furnaces

Forced air furnaces with traditional tin ductwork through the home make up the majority of heating systems in Toronto. The effectiveness of these systems is greatly affected by the size and location of the outlets and inlets throughout the home. Forced air furnaces to install in conjunction with existing duct systems have experienced a revolution in engineering changes in the last 20 years. These changes have allowed for multiple benefits in comfort, efficiency and effectiveness for the homeowners and occupants. Not all modern furnaces have all of the latest components and related benefits so consumers have a wide variety of choices of furnaces to meet their home comfort needs and budget. Here are a few of the best benefits available in the various models of today's furnaces:

* up to 50% reduction in natural gas or fuel oil consumption
* up to 70% reduction in electricity consumption by the furnace fan during heating cooling and continuous fan mode
* less fluctuation of temperature in the home
* fewer cold and warm air pockets in the home
* better humidity control and indoor air quality when matched with corresponding equipment
* quieter operation
* safer operation
* space saving, more choices of furnace location and elimination of need for a chimney

Heating Toronto

Many homes in older areas in Toronto are heated by hot water radiators and require a different solution for their air conditioning needs. One of the most effective and economical means of cooling these homes is the "Ductless air conditioner." These units are much quieter and use less than half the hydro of older window air conditioners. We've been installing them for a decade now and have found in many cases they have proven to be more effective than central air conditioners.

Other applications that ductless air conditioners may provide the best solution for include: homes with electric baseboard heating, additions with no ducted cooling or heating, churches, nursing homes, store fronts, restaurants, computer rooms or other areas which require additional cooling and/or heating (available as heating cooling unit known as a ductless heat pump). Laird and Son has served the older homes of central Toronto for 60 years now and we have selected and installed hundreds of ductless units. Let us help you pick the correct system for your application.
